Purchasing Superintendent

Our client, a leading producer of anthracite coal in the United States, is seeking a dynamic Purchasing Superintendent to join their team.  Key Responsibilities

  • Supply Chain Management: Oversee the entire supply chain process, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
  • Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiate terms, and ensure quality and delivery standards are met.
  • Daily Coordination: Handle daily communications with vendors to resolve issues, track orders, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • CapEx Projects: Actively participate in CapEx projects for equipment and infrastructure, aligning materials and services with project timelines and budgets.
  • On-Site Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and site teams to address procurement needs and challenges.
  • Contract Management: Manage service agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and optimizing service delivery.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, conduct physical checks, and implement effective management strategies to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Procurement Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, vendor performance, and inventory status.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve supply chain, vendor, or inventory issues that could impact operations.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Promote and implement best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

 

 Potential Projects You May Work On

  • Leading the procurement efforts for a major equipment upgrade across multiple facilities.
  • Streamlining vendor management processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implementing a new inventory management system to enhance accuracy and reduce waste.
  • Coordinating procurement for infrastructure improvements to support increased production capacity.
  • Driving cost-saving initiatives that align with project timelines and quality standards.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Proven ability to successfully negotiate, implement, and administer contract/service agreements.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and group processes.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of integrated financial, inventory, and purchasing systems. Experience in ERP systems and automated procurement systems desirable.
  • Effective relationship-building skills with all levels, internally and externally.
