Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to lead their Exploration and Development teams through best practices in geological data collection, processing, and interpretation. This key role will involve managing the project pipeline across exploration sites, contributing to groundbreaking discoveries in economic mineral deposits.
Key Responsibilities
- Geological Fieldwork Management: Lead efforts in geological fieldwork, focusing on discovering viable mineral deposits through meticulous data collection and analysis.
- Project Evaluation and Collaboration:Work closely with Exploration, Development, and Environmental teams to align on project goals and regulatory compliance. Engage with external consultants, labs, and software partners for specialized project support.
- District Mapping and Modeling: Conduct in-depth geological, geochemical, and geophysical interpretations to shape exploration targets. Develop district-scale cross-sections and 3D models that outline geological structures and alteration zones.
- Leadership and Safety: Mentor geologic and geotechnical staff, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused work environment. Collaborate across teams to ensure all on-site health, safety, and environmental protocols meet industry standards.
- Evaluate and prioritize exploration targets across multiple districts.
- Implement advanced drill programs, integrating data to make strategic decisions on each target’s potential.
- Develop and refine district-scale geological models to support future exploration and mining efforts.
- Design and manage special laboratory studies that influence project strategy and execution.
- Mentor junior geologists, guiding the next generation in exploration best practices and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 15+ years in geological exploration, with a strong focus on district mapping in structurally complex areas.
- Skills: Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Micromine, Leapfrog), data analysis, and communication. Ability to handle physically demanding tasks in extreme field conditions.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license; MSHA Surface Certification is a plus.
