Electrical Manager
Our client, a global leader in the mining and energy industry, is seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to lead their Electrical Operations, Planning, and Rebuild teams at their site in Colombia. Reporting directly to the VP of Electrical, this role is critical to driving safety, efficiency, and innovation in electrical maintenance and operations across an extensive mining infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, including Retie, NFPA 70e, NTC, and NEC.
- Implement and maintain OHSAS 45001 (Safety Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) systems.
- Foster a culture of safety and lead initiatives to reduce electrical risks for employees and contractors.
Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations of a large electrical maintenance team (~230 personnel, including contractors).
- Ensure uptime and productivity of critical equipment such as draglines, electric shovels, substations, and transmission lines.
- Align maintenance strategies with dynamic operational needs through daily and monthly reviews.
Maintenance & Project Management
- Track and analyze KPIs to meet or exceed safety, productivity, cost, and environmental targets.
- Plan and execute capital projects with adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Maintain precision and reliability in maintenance practices to support operational excellence.
Team Leadership & Development
- Cultivate a collaborative, safety-conscious team environment.
- Mentor and guide team members to develop technical and leadership skills.
- Drive professional growth within the team, building future leaders in the electrical field.
Potential Projects You Could Work On
- Developing advanced maintenance strategies, including predictive and condition-based systems.
- Leading modernization projects for power distribution and PLC systems.
- Spearheading capital improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Implementing initiatives to elevate safety performance and regulatory compliance.
- Optimizing operations of draglines, shovels, and high-voltage infrastructure.
What You Bring
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent electrical qualification.
- MSHA Certification (Part 77.103) or the ability to obtain it within 3 months.
- 15+ years of leadership experience in mining, industrial, or heavy equipment settings.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards (NEC, NFPA, MSHA).
- Expertise in large AC/DC motors, power distribution systems, and PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Proven ability to manage diverse teams and complex projects under tight timelines.
- Spanish proficiency or a willingness to learn.
