Maintenance Manager

Our Client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations for one of the largest open-cut coal mining operations in the world. This is a rare opportunity to join an industry leader known for its commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
About the Role
The Maintenance Manager will assist the Vice President of Mine Maintenance in directing and optimizing all maintenance activities for mobile and fixed equipment assets. This critical leadership role is essential for ensuring the safe, productive, and cost-efficient operation of a world-class mining fleet and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily maintenance operations for mobile and fixed equipment.
- Track and analyze KPIs related to safety, productivity, cost, and environmental performance.
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure maintenance goals are achieved.
- Participate in strategic reviews, including monthly and daily operational meetings.
- Contribute to annual budgeting processes and oversee approved capital projects.
- Maintain an active presence in workshops and field locations to ensure maintenance activities are executed efficiently and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure alignment with OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 safety and environmental management standards.
Potential Projects You May Work On:
- Developing justifications and overseeing capital maintenance projects.
- Implementing predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies to optimize equipment performance.
- Driving initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
- Modernizing maintenance facilities to support advanced technologies and processes.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of mine maintenance experience, including leadership roles in surface or underground mining operations.
- Demonstrated success in health and safety, environmental management, maintenance productivity, and cost control.
- Expertise in maintenance management techniques, including:
- Planned and scheduled maintenance.
- Predictive and condition-based maintenance.
- Strong leadership skills with a history of fostering high-performing teams.
Schedule, Benefits, and Relocation
- Rotation: Two weeks on-site in Colombia, one week off.
- Travel: Private company flights to Colombia from Birmingham, Alabama.
- Housing: Food and accommodations provided on-site.
- Relocation: Company-paid relocation assistance to Birmingham, Alabama is available. Alternatively, candidates can arrange personal transportation to/from the Birmingham airport.
