We are seeking an experienced and driven Vice President, Project Development to lead the advancement of a near-term gold development project located in the western U.S. This is a critical executive role that will drive the project through key technical studies, permitting, contractor engagement, and team development, ultimately preparing for construction and production.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in gold projects—particularly open-pit and heap leach operations—and thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments where cross-functional leadership and clear decision-making are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project development efforts from advanced study phases through to construction readiness and execution.
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of engineering, permitting, infrastructure, construction planning, and budgeting.
- Work closely with the CEO, technical consultants, and permitting specialists to align development strategies with project timelines and company objectives.
- Build, lead, and mentor a cross-disciplinary project development team.
- Manage third-party contractors and EPCM partners, ensuring project alignment, cost control, and schedule adherence.
- Champion site development activities, including infrastructure, water, power, access, and early works planning.
- Maintain strict budget discipline, cost forecasting, and overall P&L ownership for the project.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, environmental performance, and stakeholder engagement.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive experience in the mining industry with a strong focus on gold projects.
- Proven track record in heap leach operations and oxide processing preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading project development efforts, including Feasibility Studies, permitting, and early-stage site development.
- Strong grasp of project economics, engineering processes, construction workflows, and risk management.
- Experience working with and managing contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering, or related field; an advanced degree is an asset.
