Our client, a leader in environmental restoration and infrastructure solutions, is seeking an Environmental/Reclamation/Closure Lead to oversee operations at their Billings, MT office. Summary:

As the Environmental/Reclamation/Closure Lead you’ll play a vital role in leading a talented and multidisciplinary team. You’ll be responsible for managing both the day-to-day operations of the Billings office and the successful execution of environmental and mine reclamation projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Office Leadership: Provide supervision and guidance to local and remote staff, including project managers, engineers, and scientists.
  • Resource Management: Ensure efficient allocation of personnel and resources, support staff development, and foster a positive, health & safety-focused work environment.
  • Project Oversight: Manage technical and administrative aspects of projects, including environmental restoration and mine reclamation.
  • Client Engagement: Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects meet expectations and compliance standards.
  • Business Development: Support or lead proposal efforts to secure new projects and grow the client base.
Potential Projects:
  • Remediation of PFAS contamination across various U.S. regions.
  • Construction of large-scale federal environmental remediation projects for agencies such as the Army Corps of Engineers, NASA, and the EPA.
  • Mine reclamation and environmental restoration for state agencies like the State of Montana.
  • Emerging contaminant projects, addressing challenges with radiological and unexploded ordnance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 10 years in environmental remediation, restoration, or long-term monitoring, with 3-5 years managing teams of 10+ people. Must have experience managing mining-related projects
  • Education: A BA/BS in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and lead project teams, build consensus, and foster collaboration. Strong communication skills including writing skills
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as PE, PG, or PMP.
  • Experience working with federal or state agencies.
  • Familiarity with mine reclamation projects or large-scale environmental remediation efforts.
