Analytical Laboratory Leader
Our client is seeking a skilled and driven Analytical Laboratory Leader to manage and advance its analytical lab within a cutting-edge Critical Resource Accelerator. This facility focuses on extracting valuable materials from industrial byproducts such as alumina, steel, iron ore, coal, fertilizers, and other mineral and chemical processing operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with technical expertise in advanced analytical instrumentation, laboratory management, and cross-functional collaboration.
What You’ll Do
Lead and Manage the Laboratory
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and data integrity.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of technicians and analysts.
- Implement and maintain laboratory protocols and SOPs.
Conduct and Oversee Advanced Analyses
- Utilize ICP-OES, XRD, XRF, laser particle analyzers, carbon/sulfur analyzers, and other equipment.
- Ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and compliance with best practices.
- Manage instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Drive Research & Collaboration
- Partner with R&D teams, technology providers, and academic institutions to explore new extraction and material processing techniques.
- Support emerging research projects by leveraging lab capabilities.
- Stay current with advancements in analytical methods to enhance laboratory performance.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain high standards for data recording, storage, and reporting.
- Provide actionable insights through technical reports and presentations.
- Support decision-making in R&D and process optimization.
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Promote a strong culture of safety and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Implement and oversee internal quality assurance (QA/QC) programs.
- Continuously improve quality control measures for high data integrity.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in an analytical laboratory, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in ICP-OES, XRD, XRF, and other analytical techniques.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
